Selling homes
In tough times like these when properties can sit on the estate agent’s books for many months, it takes more than just tidying up and adding fresh flowers to sell your home. So what does it take to ensure your home gets snapped up before others and to make a profit out of it? Here at Interno Uno we have extensive experience within the property market
and know exactly what catches a buyer’s attention. It is hard for a vendor to have a realistic perspective of their own home because what he/she likes may not necessarily be what the prospective buyer likes. It is much easier to get someone else’s opinion on how to give your home the wow factor it needs to be sold.
Sometimes it’s just a matter of paying attention to little problems around the home: for example, replacing a light bulb, fixing a squeaking door, removing or adding some furniture (and you can simply hire new pieces), adding extra light. Or it could mean installing a new kitchen or bathroom or just lift them with new accessories to give them a new look. This is to enhance the value of your property so that not only it will sell quicker than others but you will also make a decent profit out of it.
One of our most recent examples was an apartment in Islington where a large wooden built-in bookcase with incorporated seats upholstered in dark green velvet occupied most of the living room making the room look dated, dark and small. We removed parts of the bookcase, painted what was left in pure white and re-upholstered the seating with a
vibrant soft fabric. Viewers were welcomed to the flat by an amazing new bookcase which gave the idea of space and light to the room. This is what most people look for when viewing properties. The flat was snapped up within days after the changes were completed.
Another example was a 1930s town house where the original internal doors had been painted over and over making them look out of shape. Ornate brass handles had also been added which didn’t really go with the doors style. We stripped the doors down and repainted them in a matt finish to give them a modern clean look and added chrome handles to complement them. A mauve carpet covered most of the floors, making the spaces look dated and small. We sanded down the original wooden floors that were hidden underneath the carpet and repainted them with a mix of matt and
polished paint so that it would partially reflect light, allowing the rooms to look and feel bigger. We also did some artwork on a few walls to tie together the different colours used in each room, giving each one a flawless look. The house sold in less than a week from when the work was completed.
These are just two examples of many similar jobs we have done in the past, so if your home is not selling why not give us a call or email us to arrange a free consultation and see how we can give it a wow factor, have it sold quickly and maximise its potential.
